I’m a white cis woman (she/her), so I don’t have direct personal experience of most issues around gender. I’m not going to pretend to be an inclusivity expert. I’m not – I’m learning all the time.
I’m not going to ask you to prove anything. If you tell me you are a man, I believe you. If you identify as a woman, I believe you. If you prefer to be called they/them, I’m going to do exactly that. If I don’t understand anything, I will ask! I will try not to make assumptions or judgements. I’m going to embrace you and all your beautiful complexity – or simplicity!
I want to represent everybody on my website, in my images on social media, and more importantly in the ceremonies I write for you. That includes both ‘traditional’ and ‘non-traditional’ relationships and people of all orientations and genders. It might take time to build those photos up – but that’s my intention.
This is important regardless of the ceremony I am doing for you. Whether it’s a joyous occasion like a wedding, vow renewal, or naming, or a funeral, living funeral or ashes ceremony, it’s important that I respect you and represent you in the way that is most truthful to you
