Labyrinths have been used for thousands of years as a way of focussing, calming and in ritual. A labyrinth is not a maze. There is only one path to follow to the centre, and the same path takes you out again. You can’t get lost. They are tools for walking meditation, for spiritual transformation, for calming and focus.
And if you don’t happen to live near a handy labyrinth, there are other ways to get the benefits. Finger labyrinths are used in the same way as full size ones, but you trace the path with your finger rather than walking.
If, like me, you really struggle with meditation, you may find that finger labyrinths are a good tool to help you drop into that calm focus – and I find it works fast. They can be used by anyone at any time, are a good substitute for fidget toys, and I’d like to share mine with you. I do sometimes make quilted fabric labyrinths which I sell in my Etsy shop – but this is one that I made as a free printable finger labyrinth for printing out at home.
As you follow the path inward to the centre, use that time for shedding, to let go of anything that’s on your mind. You can also use it to focus on a specific question. At the centre, pause as you find stillness. Your intuition may lead you to an answer to your question – if you are ready to hear it. And on the return journey you integrate anything you learned on the way, and ready your calm mind to re-enter the outside world.
I hope you find this useful. Please feel free to share this link with others, so that they can download it too xx
Thank you for posting this beautiful finger labrynth! I love walking labrynths and just recently discovered the existence of finger ones. I always feel like I am intruding at walking labrynths, even though that’s what they are there for!
