Alternative relationships and commitment

I’m a white cis woman (she/her) in a traditional marriage, so I’m not going to pretend to be an inclusivity expert. I’m not – I’m learning all the time.

Maybe a legal marriage or civil partnership doesn’t suit your values. Maybe you are in an unconventional or legally unrecognised relationship. But that doesn’t have to mean that you can’t make a public commitment. Celebrants are free to celebrate love in all it’s forms, legally binding or not!

Are you in an open relationship? Want to celebrate the security and love in your long term relationship?

Or are you happily asexual and in love? Romantic or spiritual relationships can be just as celebrated as those with a sexual element.

Maybe you’re part of a committed throuple – or more complex polycule? A three or four way handfasting would be a beautiful ceremony to experience or to witness.

Are you already married, but want to recommit if you or your partner has come out as trans/gay/lesbian/bi/pan? It’s a gorgeous way to reinforce your soul-deep connection and your acceptance of each person’s true identity.

Maybe there is a large age gap between you and your partner/s. A celebrant led ceremony can demonstrate the depth of your connection, celebrate your differences and your similarities

Maybe you want to commit to yourself? Why not? Celebrate your personal completeness and declare your love for yourself.

Do you want to make a commitment without having to worry about the legal requirements of marriage? Get in touch!

Because inclusivity is important to me it’s been at the front of my mind throughout the development of my business. The first thing I prepared for my business was my inclusivity statement which is:

I want to work with you!

I respect and want to work with people of all races, orientations, genders, ages, sizes, identities, lifestyles, cultures, differences and disabilities (whether visible or invisible). I will always try my hardest to be kind, considerate and inclusive. I can’t wait to meet you x

I want to represent everybody on my website, in my images on social media, and more importantly in the ceremonies I write for you. That includes both ‘traditional’ and ‘non-traditional’ relationships and people of all orientations and genders. It might take time to build those photos up – but that’s my intention.
